Alongside being one of the most popular RPGs to ever surface, the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series is also one of the most popular inspirations for the Minecraft modding community. Many texture packs and mods based on this game have been released for Minecraft over the years and they’ve certainly elevated the game by a pretty significant amount. The Skyrim Resource Pack is one of the latest releases that follow in this trend. As the name implies, it basically replaces all the standard Minecraft textures and imagery then replaces it with the kind that you’d see in Skyrim.
Some history on this resource pack; it was initially designed solely for use with an online Minecraft server known as ShadowRift. This server not only looked like Skyrim but it also had various other elements based on the game such as the skill system, the monsters and of course the items. However, the mod is now available for public use and it’s surely one that’ll be enjoyed quite a lot by Skyrim fans. It’s available in the resolution of 128×128 but one thing to keep in mind about it is that it requires you to have Optifine HD pre-installed in your Minecraft client in order to function at full capacity.
As you’d expect from a Skyrim texture pack, the textures are rather dark and feel much more melancholic as compared to the standard Minecraft textures which usually feature a bright and shiny color palette. The Skyrim pack perhaps has the biggest impact on the in-game horses of Minecraft. It enhances their textures quite a bit and makes each and every one of them look distinct and much more appealing by giving them a better color scheme and just making them look more realistic than they usually are.
This texture pack is available for Minecraft 1.8.8 and has gone through a pretty significant amount of changes and improvements every since it was first released. Multiple textures have been given some fine tuning for example the Beetroot and Elytra texture and various icons have been given a bit of polish as well to look sharper. Other than this there have also been a lot of bug fixes to increase the stability of the pack and make sure that players don’t run into any issues while using it. The Skyrim Resource Pack has been designed by SrZambie and is another addition to the long line of mods and packs that are based on the fifth Elder Scrolls game.
